We recommend to keep your pet looking their best, and to promote good health, your pet should be groomed every 6-8 weeks. Additionally, regular brushing can prevent matting and encourage healthy skin. Ask one of our staff members if you aren’t sure how to properly care for your pet’s coat at home.
Pets are dropped off between 8-9AM, but can be later by request. Early pick-up times are available and must be requested when making appointments.Late drop off times are also available.
Appointments are available 7 days a week – just stop in or call us at (516) 488-2705 to make an appointment. If your pet will also be boarding with us at Jo-Mar, you can let us know if you would like for them to be groomed at that time as well.
At Jo-Mar, we specialize in all sizes and breeds, from the smallest mini toy breeds to the largest Great Danes.

NO NO NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If we have a problem handling a pet we call the owners and ask for the pet to be picked up, or we can give it another try with the owners present.
Dogs must be current on their Bordatella, DLPP, Rabies and canine influenza. Bordetella is required by Jo-Mar to be administered every 6 months. If the vaccine doesn’t meet the 6 month requirement it must be administered at least 10 days prior to your dog’s visit.
Bordatella (kennel cough) is a highly contagious airborne infection similar to the common cold that children pick up at human daycare. Much like the human flu vaccine, no vaccine is 100%, effective as new stains of Bordatella continually develop and some dogs are more susceptible to this infection than others. Jo-Mar takes all possible precautions to eliminate the possible spread of this infection in our facility. Since there is current debate about how long the vaccine will protect your dog, we require it twice a year to ensure there are no outbreaks at our facility.
We ask that owners bring their pets food, so we do not change their diet and cause any stomach upset. There is an additional charge to feed with our food.
We provide bedding and toys for all of our boarding guests, but you are welcome to bring along your pet’s own bedding and toys if you like. However, please be aware that we are not responsible for items you may bring, as your pet is likely to chew them in your absence. A sweatshirt or t-shirt (old, of course!) which has been worn by family members is a great way for your pet to snuggle up to your scent while a guest at Jo-Mar.
All dogs must have their canine booster (DHLPP) (once per year), as well as their rabies shot (once per 3-years) and Bordetella (‘Kennel Cough’ – every 6 months) vaccinations up to date. Cats are required to have their FDRPC booster for feline distemper and feline rabies. Please bring along proof of these vaccinations with your pet.
Jo-Mar has a friendly and working relationship with may of the veterinarians in the area, and has veterinarians on call for any sickness or emergencies.
Absolutely! As long as we have written consent on file, family members and friends may visit with your pet or take them for walks or outings while they are guests at Jo-Mar.
All of our guests receive a complimentary bath on the day they are scheduled to go home. If you would like, we can also schedule a full-groom (including hand scissoring, puppy cuts, baths, trim-ups) during your pet’s stay.
A complimentary bath is a bath only. (No brushing, No nails, No ears, No trimming, Just a Bath)
